From drizzle to the vast expanses of the sea, water, the focus of this second concert in the “Four Elements” weekend, is like a polymorphous creature that enjoys surprising those who try to cahtc it. Rivers, just like the sea, have an unpredictable power, and their slightest upheavals are feared: the Volga in Maria Bach’s Quintet seems to sweep away everything in its path, while the sea in Ethel Smyth’s “Before the Squall” hints at anxiety… Springs and rivers are the mysterious home of legendary creatures, from Ondine (Hedwige Chrétien) to Narcissus – the inspiration for Jeanne Leleu’s Miroir d’eau. A source of fascination rather than anxiety, the sea and its beauty inspire in Hedwige Chrétien an ecstasy similar to that provoked by the feeling of love. More pragmatic, Louise Filliaux-Tiger and Marie Jaëll express delicate nuances, from light rain to thunderstorms, from water falling from the sky according to the whims of the weather…

French mezzo-soprano Fiona McGown began singing at the age of 12 with the Paris Opera Children’s Choir. She trained at the Maîtrise de Radio France and obtained a degree in Arts and Letters at Paris VII. She graduated from the Leipzig Hochschule für Musik and the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris. At the opera, she has played the roles of Dorabella in Cosi fan Tutte and Cherubino in Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro, Thetis and Victory in Sacrati’s La finta pazza, Flerida in Cavalli’s Erismena, Cybèle in Lully’s Atys, and Orpheus in Gluck’s Orpheus and Eurydice.
She has also performed in Zemlinsky’s The Dwarf, Schoenberg’s Pierrot Lunaire, Stravinsky’s Pulcinella and in a concert in homage to Leonard Bernstein with the Orchestre de Paris. She has performed on numerous opera stages in France – Philharmonie de Paris, Théâtre des Champs-Élysées, Théâtre de l’Athénée, Auditorium du Musée du Louvre, Opéra-Comique, Opéra Royal de Versailles… – and abroad – Victoria Hall in Geneva, Grand Théâtre de la Ville de Luxembourg, Palazzetto Bru Zane in Venice, in India… She sings under the baton of Leonardo García Alarcón and works with directors Jean-Yves Ruf, Jean Bellorini, Katie Mitchell and Romeo Castellucci (Mozart’s Requiem at the Aix-en-Provence Festival, 2019). She regularly performs in a duo with pianist Célia Oneto Bensaid and is invited to perform in numerous chamber music festivals. She is the author and creator of several pieces by the composer Camille Pépin, and sings Chamber Music in its first recording, which has received critical praise (fff Télérama, Choc de l’année du magazine Classica, Choix de France Musique).
Born in Paris, Raphaëlle Moreau comes from a family of musicians. She began playing the violin at the age of four. At fourteen, she entered the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris in Roland Daugareil’s class. At the same time, she followed the teaching of Pavel Vernikov. In 2018, she obtained a master the highest distinction in the class of Renaud Capuçon in Switzerland while pursuing a Diploma of Performer at the Conservatoire de Paris.
At the age of thirteen, Raphaëlle gave numerous recitals in Italy and was awarded first prize at the XVIIth Postacchini Competition. She performed as a soloist with the Georgian Chamber Orchestra, the Saint-Maurice Orchestra, the COGE Philharmonic, the Ostinato Orchestra, the Lausanne Chamber Orchestra, the Lithuanian Chamber Orchestra… Raphaëlle has a keen interest in chamber music and has been invited to the Festivals of Périgord Noir, the Colmar International Festival, the Stavelot Musical Festival, the Rencontres Musicales d’Evian, the Festival de Pâques d’Aix-en-Provence, the Lugano Musica season, the Rheingau Music Festival and shares the stage with her brother Edgar, Nicholas Angelich, Renaud Capuçon, David Kadouch, Alexandra Conunova, Mathieu Herzog, Adrien La Marca…
She made her trio debut at the Cologne Philharmonic, at the Konzerthaus in Dortmund as well as in recital at the Sommets Musicaux in Gstaad. In 2017, she was chosen by Renaud Capuçon to receive the Livio Benedetti Prize for a young artist. Raphaëlle Moreau is a 2016 laureate of the Rhine Gold and Nicati-de Luze Foundation and is graciously loaned a 1740 Domenico Montagnana by Mr. Jaeger.
Born in Paris into a family of musicians, the young violinist Alexandre Pascal studied violin with Suzanne Gessner at the CRR of Paris and then with Olivier Charlier at the CNSMDP where he brilliantly obtained his master’s degree with the unanimous approval of the jury. Alexandre Pascal has an intense activity as a soloist and chamber music player. He has performed in prestigious international festivals such as the “Festival Berlioz” in La Côte Saint-André, “Musique à l’Emperi”, Schiermonnikoog in the Netherlands, Saint-Yrieix, the “Flâneries de Reims”, the “Festival de La Prée”, the “Festival de L’Epau”, the “Festival de Cordes-sur-ciel”, the “Tons voisins” in Albi, Tanglewood Music Festival in the United States, and also in prestigious venues such as the Salle Gaveau in Paris, the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées, accompanied by the Orchestre de chambre de Paris, the Victoria Hall in Geneva, the Grand Théâtre d’Aix en Provence, the Seine Musicale in Paris, the Nouveaux Siècles in Lille, NCPA in Mumbai and the Philharmonie de Paris. He shares the stage with prestigious soloists such as Daishin Kashimoto, Eric Le Sage, Emmanuel Pahud, Paul Meyer, Zvi Plesser, Romain Descharmes, Hortense Cartier-Bresson, Pierre Fouchenneret, Marie Chilemme, Lise Berthaud, Lorenzo Gatto, Victor Julien-Laferrière, and of course Aurélien Pascal, Denis Pascal and Marie-Paule Milone. Alexandre has a degree in musicology and studied conducting at the CNSMDP. He has also participated in the Seiji Ozawa Academy for several years. Nominated “Révélation Classique” by the Adami in 2018, Alexandre plays on a Jean- Baptiste Vuillaume violin from 1852.

This conception of musical interpretation as a singular and immersive practice is the basis of Violaine Despeyroux’s artistic vision. Trained at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris, the Munich Hochschule and the Chapelle Musicale Reine Elisabeth, she distinguishes herself on stage by her personality and energy, both precise and electrifying.
Violaine Despeyroux was unanimously awarded first prize at the National Competition for Young Violists, second prize and the prize for the best interpretation of Bach’s works at the Cecil Aronowitz International Viola Competition in Birmingham.
A multi-faceted artist, she is equally at ease in chamber music or in the orchestra as a soloist. She has performed in France, Italy and Belgium, notably under the baton of Vahan Mardirossian and Ian Fountain. She has performed at the Victoria Hall in Geneva, at the Seiji Ozawa Hall in Tanglewood (USA), at the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées in Paris, at the Palais des Beaux-Arts in Brussels or at the Grand Théâtre de Provence in Aix-en-Provence – alongside renowned partners such as Renaud Capuçon, Gary Hoffman, Claire Désert, Suyoen Kim, Alexandra Soumm, or the Smoking Josephine Ensemble. She is invited to prestigious festivals such as the Festival de Pâques, the Festival Radio France Occitanie Montpellier or the Folles journées de Nantes, and regularly plays with the Opéra national de Paris, the Orchestre de Paris, the WDR of Cologne or the Kölner Kammerorchester. In 2022/2023, she made her debut in Belgium with Renaud Capuçon in Mozart’s Sinfonia Concertante.
Héloïse Luzzati has been involved for several years in the discovery and recognition of women’s musical heritage.
In 2020, she founded Elles women composers, a project based on the research of manuscripts and scores that are the subject of daily readings.
She is also the founder of the Festival Un Temps pour Elles and of La Boîte à Pépites for which she works in close collaboration with the designer Lorène Gaydon, the director Alexis Lardilleux and the sound engineer Mireille Faure.
She is the author of most of the documentaries produced for the Boîte à Pépites.
Thanks to Elles Women Composers, Héloïse Luzzati collaborates with numerous cultural structures such as the Orchestre National Avignon Provence, the Orchestre National d’Île-de-France, the Abbaye de Royaumont, the Abbaye de Maubuisson or the Palazzeto BruZane and hopes to spread the research and reading work of the collective as widely as possible.
Passionate about chamber music, Héloïse Luzzati graduated from the CNSMDP in the class of Roland Pidoux and Xavier Phillips. During her studies, she also benefited from the advice of Philippe Muller, Marc Coppey, Hatto Beyerle, Alain Planès and members of the Ysaÿe Quartet. She has performed with artists such as Xavier Phillips, Célia Oneto Bensaid, Dana Ciocarlie, Marie-Josèphe Jude, Léa Hennino, Alexandre Pascal….
Born in 1985, David Kadouch was taught by Odile Poisson at the C.N.R. in Nice, Jacques Rouvier at the CNSM in Paris, Dmitri Bashkirov at the Reina Sofia School in Madrid, and perfected his skills with Murray Perahia, Maurizio Pollini, Maria-Joao Pires, Daniel Barenboim, Vitaly Margulis, Itzhak Perlman, Elisso Virsaladze, and Emanuel Krasovsly. At the age of 13, he played at the Metropolitan Hall in New York, at 14 at the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow. In 2005, he was invited to the Academies of Salzburg and Verbier (Prix d’Honneur in 2009), then he was a finalist of the “Leeds International Piano Competition” in 2009. Since 2007, he has been a laureate of the ADAMI, the Natixis Banque Populaire Foundation and also “Révélation Jeune Talent” at the Victoires de la Musique 2010 and “Young Artist of the Year” at the Classical Music Awards 2011. David Kadouch is invited to numerous festivals and regularly performs in chamber music with his partners Renaud and Gautier Capuçon, Edgar Moreau, Nikolaj Znaider, Antoine Tamestit, Frans Helmerson, Victor Julien-Laferrière, Yuri Revich, Sol Gabetta, Patricia Kopatchinskaja, Michel Dalberto, as well as the Ebène, Modigliani, Quiroga and Ardeo Quartets. He is also a guest soloist with the most prestigious international orchestras. David Kadouch has given numerous solo and duo recitals with Edgar Moreau in Europe and elsewhere. Among his outstanding recordings, his disc “Revolution” (Beethoven, Chopin, Liszt, Debussy, Janacek, Dussek, Rzewski), was awarded a Choc Classica of the year 2019 and widely acclaimed by critics. In 2022, he recorded a disc devoted to the female composers of the period of Flaubert’s novel Mme Bovary for the Mirare record label.
François Lambret is an eclectic pianist, a passionate chamber musician, a teacher, and a sought-after accompanist of the greatest voices. He studied at the Conservatoire National de Paris (CNSMDP) and at the University of the Arts in Berlin (UdK), where he obtained an Artist Diploma and was awarded as a pianist and chamber musician. A student of Jean-François Heisser, Pierre-Laurent Aimard, Christian Ivaldi and Fabio Bidini, François Lambret has never ceased to enrich his musical research alongside the greatest performers. He is supported by members of the most prestigious string quartets (Berg, Ysaÿe, Artemis). As a soloist or with his various ensembles, he won the first prize at the Trondheim competition, the public prize in Melbourne, and the Dorothy MacKenzie Award in New York. His career as a pianist has taken him on numerous tours as a soloist or with the Paul Klee Trio, and has allowed him to work on numerous parallel projects with singers, dancers, and electroacoustic composers. His concerts in recent years have allowed him to perform in the most significant concert halls in Europe (Berlin Philharmonic, Salle Pleyel, Cité de la Musique), America (Teatro Colón) and Asia (Topan Hall). His recording of Alexandre Guilmant’s works for harmonium and piano was praised by the critics (notably the magazine Diapason). François Lambret has recently performed with artists such as Bertrand Chamayou, Francesco Tristano, Renaud and Gautier Capuçon, Nicholas Angelich, Camille Thomas and Rosanne Philippens. For Deutsche Grammophon, he accompanies Elīna Garanča, Benjamin Bernheim and Julie Fuchs. He has also worked on several occasions with the star dancers of the Paris Opera (Dorothée Gilbert, Karl Paquette, Ludmila Pagliero and Laura Hecquet).
