Based on an research project that is both ambitious and exigent as to the quality of the selected works, the goal of the record label “La Boîte à Pépites” is to shine a light on works that have never (or almost never) been recorded.
Far from the fashionable interest in “women composers”, for which the theme of “women” suffices to select concert or CD programmes, our label places the accent squarely on the compositions themselves, uniting a group of musicians in a common project :
“ The composer is placed at the very centre of the project, and we, the musicians, place ourselves together at the service of her music.”
Héloïse Luzzati, artistic director
RITA STROHL
UNE COMPOSITRICE DE LA DEMESURE
“Ms Strohl is a composer of genius who particularly excels in setting the loveliest poems to music.”
(La Nation, February 26, 1903)
Rita Strohl is an atypical figure in the history of music. Attracted to both the Wagnerian universe and symbolism, she composed works of chamber music as well as grand lyrical and symphonic soundscapes. This double CD containing performances by exceptional artists is the first part of a three-part project dedicated to the music of Rita Strohl. It is entirely devoted to her songs, most of which have never been recorded until now.

CHARLOTTE SOHY
COMPOSITRICE DE LA BELLE EPOQUE
A musician collective rehabilitates forgotten works.
Charlotte Sohy brought to life thirty-five compositions for every kind of musical formation, of which fifteen, never previously recorded, are in this album. The record label La Boîte à Pépites grew out of the YouTube channel of the same name and the Festival Un Temps pour Elles. This album is the first release of a collection destined to bring to light a plethora of forgotten works by women composers.
