Little is known about Maddalena Casulana, an Italian composer from the 16th century: she published several books of madrigals in Venice under her own name, she was in contact with Isabella de Medici to whom she dedicated several of her works, and her music was played at the court of Bavaria… But her personal life as well as the details of her career remain shrouded in mystery. Almost nothing is known about Raffaella Aleotti: was she the sister of Vittoria Aleotti, a nun and composer from Ferrara, or were they both the same artist using two different names? Was she also a nun? Around the works of these 16th and 17th century composers, one of secular music, the other of sacred music, the singers and musicians of the ensemble Les Voix Animées bring together contemporaries from all over Europe, for a musical journey resonating with the collections of the National Museum of the Renaissance.

LES VOIX ANIMÉES
Since 2009, Les Voix Animées have been dedicated to the rediscovery and promotion of the vast repertoire of a cappella music from the Renaissance. Around Luc Coadou, Les Voix Animées performs, with a small mixed group of 4 to 8 singers – just one for each voice – depending on the production.
In addition to rediscovering a large repertoire of early music, Les Voix Animées create works by young composers, with the support of the Sacem and the Drac Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur, thus confronting the know-how from the past with the present.
Les Voix Animées pay particular attention to the renewal of performance forms and to encountering new audiences. The cross-over programmes “Récréations A Cappella” and “Célébrations A Cappella”, the concerts-films “Charlot, Octave et Bobine” and “La Passion de Jeanne d’Arc”, the “augmented concerts”, the “song deliveries” to private homes or public spaces, their partnership with NomadPlay, their web-series, “le Noël solidaire”, their “Bouquet de chansons” or “1514, le voyage musico-temporel des Voix Animées”, their series of podcasts in 16 episodes co-produced with France Musique and in partnership with the CCR d’Ambronay all illustrate this particular approach.
Now residents of the Var region, the ensemble radiates throughout France and abroad thanks to its many concerts and its active presence on the web. Since 2014, Les Voix Animées have sung in Lisbon, Frankfurt, London, Beijing, Wuhan, Tianjin, Macao, Rotterdam…
The Ensemble Les Voix Animées is supported by the City of Toulon, the Drac Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur, the Centre National de la Musique, the Région Sud Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur, the Département du Var, the Métropole Toulon Provence Méditerranée, the Commune du Thoronet, the Sacem and the Spedidam. They are a member of Fevis and Profedim.

Highway A1 from Porte de la Chapelle, exit Francilienne (N104) to Cergy-Pontoise, then take the exit to Ecouen (RD316). Parking is available at the entrance of the Château.

Train (SNCF) :
From the Gare du Nord, line H (platform 30 or 31) to Persan-Beaumont / Luzarches through Monsoult, get down at Gare d’Écouen-Ézanville.
Then from the Gare d’Écouen-Ézanville :
- Bus 269 to Garges-Sarcelles, get down at Mairie/Château
Bus ride duration: 5 min. - Or walk to the Musée through the forest (20 min).
By bus : from Sarcelles, bus 269 to Hôtel de Ville d’Attainville > get down at Général Leclerc.
