VOYAGES

Crossing paths at the heart of romantic Europe

SATURDAY JUNE 10 2023 - 20.00

Marianne Croux, soprano
Pierre Fouchenneret, violin
Théo Fouchenneret, piano

In 19th century Europe, the reputation of Clara Schumann as a composer and immense piano virtuoso crosses all borders. Ethel Smyth, a composer and future British suffragette, met her during her studies in Leipzig. Amanda Maier, a famous Norwegian concert violinist and composer, performed at a concert she attended. She also taught piano to Luise Adolpha Le Beau, German composer and pianist… These encounters build a portrait of romantic Europe: through works for voice, violin and piano performed by soprano Marian Croux and musician brothers Pierre and Théo Fouchenneret, appears a continent torn by conflicting influences, between passionate enthusiasm and modernist dazzle.
